Hold Me Now – Intro

The second part of the Guardians story arc.  This novel is about Gail and Cecil, and it was actually the first story I ever wrote that had to do with a guardian angel, as well as the first slice of life story I ever attempted.  The first incarnation of this story was written back in 2014 before this whole series was ever even conceived, but this is the newest version.

Note: This is an edited first draft and as such it could probably still use some work in some areas, but for the time being I’m happy to share this draft with you all.

After her brother dies, Gail has to go through her last year of college trying to figure out how to cope.  One of her friends tells her he likes her and wants to date her and he can’t seem to take no for an answer.  On top of that, a strange man seems to be stalking her, but she soon finds out that he is actually an angel: her guardian angel.  She refuses to believe he’s real at first and won’t accept his advice, but as life starts getting crazier she realizes that he needs her help almost more than she needs his.

This story is based on the song Hold Me Now, by RED.  The original idea for this story came from a dream in which a man came out of nowhere and started telling me how it’d been so long since he had seen me but I actually had no idea who he was.  I took that concept and it evolved into this somehow.  Though this story doesn’t start out happy, it is perhaps one of my most hopeful and uplifting stories to date.

CONTENT WARNINGS – Contains mild amounts of strong profanity, deals with topics such as suicide, homophobia, and disrespecting romantic boundaries.
